UpTone Audio is a boutique American company that builds audiophile-grade linear power supplies and network devices engineered to clean up the digital signal chain that feeds streaming and computer audio. Rather than modifying off-the-shelf hardware, UpTone designs every product from the ground up on costly multi-layer circuit boards, with components and topology chosen for a single purpose: extracting the best possible sound from a digital source.

The product that put UpTone on the map is the EtherREGEN, a revolutionary Ethernet switch developed over nearly two years and built on a 6-layer circuit board. Its goals and architecture are completely different from any other Ethernet switch on the planet. At its heart is UpTone's patented Active Differential Isolation Moat, the ADIM™, which uses high-speed, low-jitter differential digital isolator chips paired with ultra-low-jitter differential re-clocking flip-flops. No other Ethernet switch on the market does this. Crossing the moat, from the 'A' side to the 'B' side, creates dual isolated clock, data, and power domains, blocks all external leakage currents, significantly reduces the upstream phase-noise fingerprint, and maximizes signal integrity.

The EtherREGEN's four Gigabit copper ports and SFP cage sit on the 'A' side, while a single 100 Mbps port on the 'B' side connects directly to the streamer or DAC endpoint. Each isolated domain is re-clocked using 10 GHz-capable differential flip-flops with under 0.8 picoseconds of jitter, referenced to an ultra-low-noise Crystek CCHD-575 oscillator. The magnetics are equally bespoke: each RJ45 port uses 12 transformer cores (most Ethernet ports use 2–6), with center-taps grounded through capacitors to block port-to-port AC leakage currents. Twelve of the world's lowest-noise integrated voltage regulators, the Linear Technology LT3045 and LT3042, support the data chips, backed by 195 low-inductance capacitors selected by their derating curves.

The result is surprisingly audible sonic improvement in fine music systems, a claim backed by a seven-page review in The Absolute Sound that earned a major 'Technology Breakthrough' award, and by Hans Beekhuyzen's video review, where the EtherREGEN came out on top against a competitor at nearly three times the price. As reviewer Rajiv Arora wrote: 'The EtherREGEN is one of high-end audio's bargains. If your audio system uses Ethernet for streaming audio, you owe it to yourself to try the EtherREGEN.'
