Overview
When St. Anne's-Belfield School needed a complete audio-visual overhaul for Randolph Hall, they turned to Total Entertainment Solutions to design a system that would serve assemblies, theatrical performances, and community events, all from one unified platform.
The centerpiece: a 20-foot motorized projection screen installation paired with distributed audio throughout the theater, mezzanine, and multiple entertaining spaces across the campus.
The Challenge
The existing AV system in Randolph Hall had reached the end of its useful life. Audio coverage was inconsistent across the main theater floor and the mezzanine level, making it difficult to run assemblies and performances with confidence. There was no large-format projection capability at all, which limited the school's ability to host events that required visual presentation. The additional challenge was the space itself. Randolph Hall is a historic auditorium with architectural character that the school understandably wanted to preserve. Equipment needed to be integrated thoughtfully, without surface-mounted conduit, exposed cabling, or hardware that would visually compromise the room. The system also had to be simple enough for non-technical staff to operate independently for everyday events, while delivering professional-grade performance when productions demanded it.
Our Solution
We designed and installed a complete AV overhaul built around a 20-foot motorized projection screen paired with a high-output projector capable of delivering a bright, sharp image in the auditorium's ambient light conditions. The projection system was integrated with the room's architectural elements so the screen retracts cleanly out of sightlines when not in use. For audio, we designed a distributed speaker system covering the main theater floor, the mezzanine level, and 15 additional spaces across the campus, all fed from a central multi-zone audio control system. Speaker placement was engineered for even coverage throughout the auditorium, eliminating the hot spots and dead zones that had plagued the previous system. The entire installation is controllable from a central touch panel at the stage, giving staff instant access to every AV function without technical training. We also provided system programming documentation and staff training so the school could operate confidently from day one.
