Da-Lite has set the standard for projection screens for nearly a century, with a surface catalog that covers everything from reference matte-white and high-contrast gray to ambient-light-rejecting and acoustically transparent materials. Their fixed-frame, motorized, tensioned, and manual screens cover the full range from a dedicated cinema to a multipurpose media room.

The screen is the last optical element in the chain and it either preserves the projector's performance or throws it away. Surface gain and texture determine perceived contrast and black level, ambient-light-rejecting materials keep an image watchable in a room with windows or recessed lighting, and acoustically transparent screens let the left, center, and right speakers live directly behind the image where a commercial cinema puts them. We match the material to the projector's light output, throw distance, seating width, and the room's real lighting conditions rather than defaulting to whatever is in stock.

Da-Lite's motorized window shades matter just as much. Light control is the cheapest picture upgrade in any room, and integrating shades with the same control system that lowers the screen means one command darkens the room, drops the screen, and starts the film.
