Their tactile transducers, mounted directly to theater seating, risers, or platforms, reproduce the bottom octave as motion instead of sound, so a helicopter rotor, a bass drop, or a rumbling engine registers in your body at the same instant it reaches your ears.

The reason to add tactile transducers is not more volume; it is the opposite. A properly tuned shaker setup delivers the visceral impact most people chase by turning subwoofers up too loud, at levels that stay comfortable and do not shake the rest of the house. Because the energy is transferred mechanically into the seating, it stays where the audience is instead of loading the room and exciting every wall and window in it.
