Piega has been building loudspeakers in Horgen, Switzerland, on Lake Zurich since 1986, and it remains one of a small handful of manufacturers in the world that designs and produces its own ribbon drivers in-house. The patented Coax ribbon reproduces midrange and treble from a single point source, which gives Piega the speed, air, and low distortion of a true ribbon without the thin, disembodied character that some planar designs fall into.

The cabinets are just as unusual. Extruded and CNC-machined aluminum shells are essentially inert, so the enclosure stops contributing its own sound and the drivers are free to disappear. That construction also lets Piega build remarkably slim towers that hold their own in a large room, which matters in the open, high-ceilinged great rooms common around Charlottesville.

The range scales cleanly. Premium 301 and 501 models suit smaller listening rooms and second systems, Coax 411 and 611 bring the coaxial ribbon into mid-size rooms, and the Master Line Source series anchors true reference installations. The wireless Premium models deliver a genuine high-end system with no visible rack of electronics, which is often the deciding factor for design-driven clients.

We run Piega in our Charlottesville demo listening room with Aesthetix and CODA electronics, and we specify it for both two-channel systems and the front stage of reference home theaters where timbral accuracy across the front three channels is non-negotiable.
